SPF, which is short for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail safety system, which is employed to validate whether an e-mail message was sent by a certified server. Using SPF protection for a domain will stop the forging of email addresses created with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this function for a domain makes a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which contains the IP addresses of the servers that are permitted to send e-mail messages from mail boxes using the domain. When this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Whenever some email message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through checks whether it originates from an authorized server. In the event it does, it's forwarded to the destination address, but if it doesn't originate from a server indexed in the SPF record for the domain, it's rejected. In this way nobody can mask an e-mail address to make it appear as if you are distributing spam messages. This technique is also termed email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you host your domains in a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you can use the SPF protection feature as a part of the conventional set of services that you will get using this type of hosting. Activating the protection will involve only several easy steps inside the Hepsia Control Panel, so even when you have never employed this type of feature before, you will not have any kind of problems. Using an exceptionally user-friendly interface, you'll simply need to insert the details of the mail server which will be certified to send messages from your e-mail addresses - its hostname (mail.server.com) and IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). The moment the recently made record propagates, no one will be able to counterfeit any email for that particular domain name and send messages from a server different from the one you have typed in. This does not specifically have to be our mail server, but in case we handle your emails, you can activate an extra level of protection by choosing an option that emails can be send from addresses @your-domain.com only in case the domain employs our MX records. Our tech support team will be able to help you 24/7 in case you have any questions about this service.
